Boquete, the mountain of Panama

Ambassador of the green tourism, welcome to the province of Chiriqui. The Panama mountain is a green getaway ideal for mountain sports or relaxation.


Located on the heights of David and on the foothills of the Baru volcano, Boquete is considered the “Switzerland of Panama”. The landscapes are made of a mixture of mountains and waterfalls, the temperature decreases as you climb towards the city. The vegetation is lush, a mix of tropical plants and fir trees. At the bottom of Boquete, you can even see the Pacific. Sleeping in the evening in Boquete is a pleasure, many restaurants and bars are on site and the small square of the village is often lively.

Many hotels are available, from a simple bed and breakfast to a mountain lodge. There are also beautiful coffee plantations that offer beautiful rooms. Houses often have fireplaces, a real local attraction. The Escondido Valley is also a possibility with sumptuous villas with golf and heated pool.

How to get there ?

From Panama City, take the famous Panamericana for about seven hours. In domestic flight, forty five minutes and about forty minutes drive to Boquete.

The Baru volcano rises to 3474 meters and offers in clear weather, a breathtaking view of the two oceans. The climb is done in trek with a guide confirmed according to the weather. However, it is also possible to make a part in 4X4 with a walk then. The volcano is a national park, very rich in biodiversity.

On the other hand, you can visit coffee fincas on Boquete, coffee is considered there as the best in the world. Finally, it is possible to practice horse riding, canyoning or rafting. Golf is also widely practiced in the region. The golf of Chiriqui also offers many excursions to go on small islands, to practice fishing or simply to benefit from beaches of fine sand.
